Libraries Lead! is a provocative podcast about all things information and library in society. It is hosted by Beth Patin (Assistant Professor, School of Information Studies, Syracuse U), Dave Lankes (Professor, iSchool, U of Texas), and Mike Eisenberg (Dean/Professor Emeritus, iSchool, U of Washington).
This is the information age! The opportunities and threats are big and profound and they affect every aspect of human existence.
As librarians and information science educators, we know that libraries and librarians have major roles to play as society comes to grip the continual trials of living in our constantly changing 21st Century information world. Some of these roles are new, but all build on core library functions, services, and responsibilities involving focusing on people and communities and their needs related to information, resources, books, services, place, access.
In this podcast, Libraries Lead, we wrestle with such topics as social justice, political unrest, mis- and dis-information, kids, family and adult living; education and learning; work, employment, training and jobs; recreation, entertainment, and play; disasters & emergency preparedness; and more. Our focus with all these things is the nature and scope of the issue itself and the role of libraries, librarians, and information services, and systems.
The podcast include 4 segments in about an hour tarting with WAZZUP with Beth, Dave and Mike, AI WATCH, a MAIN TOPIC discussion and an AWESOME LIBRARY THINGY from each of us for this episode.
